Black-and-white tiled, enormously spacious, this Cuban restaurant serves traditional fare in the evening and a fiesta atmosphere late into the night. For Sammy, one of the Manhattan Sideways team members, he felt "transformed into Ernest Hemingway" as soon as we entered the premises -- seeping in the romance of old Havana. The mojitos are a specialty, whether enjoyed during happy hour or as a way to loosen up for the salsa music played every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. On weekends, late nights also offer live DJ’s (of a non-salsa sort) and an invitation to dance ‘til the wee hours. The premises are truly beautiful and the Latin atmosphere palpably permeates. A wall of fame shows the celebrities who have partaken of this lovely spot, many of whom trickled over from the neighboring Jungle City Studios. Manhattan Sideways usually doesn’t name names, but we do love that they have a photo of Dip Set rapper, Jim Jones on the wall. Ballin’!
