Remote control (RC) vehicles - they aren't just for kids, or as Jay, who works in this palace of play, puts it: "Our stuff is for children age nine to ninety-nine." And, no doubt, every customer is thrilled. Beyond the standard remote control cars, there are helicopters buzzing overhead, and boxes of the quad-copters lining the shelves. Pilotage carries the gamut from beginner models to tricked out multi-grand options, as well as toys and craft projects, train sets, science kits, plastic and wooden models. What we quickly learned, though, is that it is the RC vehicles that are the bread and butter. Experts repair items onsite and provide technical support. The quad-copters are the only ones in Manhattan, and are being marketed to cinematographers as well as hobbyists. Watching the experts fly the helicopters while regaling us with stories of everything RC, we could not help but feel their exuberance wash over us. "I just like the fact that fun can be an educational tool too," Jim told us.
