Blue Note

When we speak of Greenwich Village, most New Yorkers from my generation must remember a time when they were at the Blue Note. It was, and continues to be, a spectacular spot – from the grand piano jutting out of the facade to the gold-trimmed box office to the classy and comfortable concert-style set-up inside, this iconic club shows off its status as a world-renowned jazz music venue. There are several live performances every night of the week here, with famous headliners from different eras. These days Blue Note is not only a jazz club, as it also regularly showcases hip-hop, soul, funk and R&B artists, such as The Roots and Estelle. Seating is generally first come first serve, so I recommend making a reservation ahead of time and getting in line as early as you can so that you do not end up in a corner straining your neck to see the performance.
