What used to be Folk City, where Bob Dylan and Joan Baez once performed, is now Village Underground. This address has been known as an amazing live music venue since the 1960s, and today, behind the solid black studded doors, you will find bands working hard to uphold West 3rd Street’s great reputation. Sunday is open mic night and many celebrities have been known to attend. R&B singer Cheryl Pepsii Riley hosts a jam session on Monday nights, and on Saturdays everyone is up and dancing to live performances and a DJ. Upstairs is the Village Underground’s sister bar and lounge, Fat Black Pussycat.
