The Loisaida Center
Special Events or By Request Tu-Sa 11am-8pm
Loisaida – or the “Lower East Side” – is home to many Latino communities of rich cultural heritage. The Loisaida Center is a Puerto Rican/Latino initiative that engages these communities by offering a wide array of educational programs in order to promote mobility and the “inherent beauty and aesthetic value of everyday life.” The center offers classes in S.T.E.M. fields and in 2015 will open a “Culinary Incubator” to train participants in the culinary arts. The annual Loisaida Festival celebrates the diversity of cultures existing on Avenue C and draws over 15,000 participants to enjoy musical performances, craft vendors, and tasty treats.
