Florisity – LOST GEM
Takashimaya was a remarkable department store on Fifth Avenue that I always enjoyed walking through, and when they closed, much of the team behind the flower shop in the Fifth Avenue store chose to move downtown to 19th Street. Florisity continues to convey the same aesthetic of lush, organic, Japanese-influenced arrangements that they were so widely known for uptown, and still maintains its high-profile clientele from around the world. Peter, the delightful manager, explained to me that international customers often contact Florisity when they need to send flowers to someone in the US, since “we are known to have the most elegant flowers in the country.” One look around, and it quickly becomes clear that he is not exaggerating.
