I could not wait to get to 31st Street, so that I could have another excuse to visit this remarkable kitchen supply store, hidden away on the eleventh floor. Although not very large, it is heaven for a genuine chef, and inspiring for the rest of us. There is an assortment of knives unlike anywhere else, with experts there to advise on what is best for one’s cooking needs, and then countless kitchen tools, gadgets, pans, cookbooks, bowls and baking goods. Each time I turned a corner, I discovered something slightly different than what I had seen in other kitchen shops. Designed with the professional in mind, Judith Prince did her homework, traveling to Europe bringing back some of the creme de la creme in kitchen supplies as her business took off from her home in Brooklyn back in 1976.
