A legendary nightclub in the heart of Midtown, Copacabana has been around since 1940. Many famous entertainers made their New York debuts at the club but, most likely, what has it indelibly etched in most of our minds is Barry Manilow’s 1978 song “Copacabana.”
Monte Proser, an established nightclub owner and press agent, opened the club with mob boss partner Frank Costello on 60th street where they remained until 1992.
Copacabana offers dinner buffets on Tuesdays and shows on the weekends. One can also come in to dance after 10pm on the weekends, and enjoy the music and the mythical allure at The Copa where such greats as Harry Belafonte, The Supremes, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis and countless others have performed.
