Dark wood floors, rustic walls, a red-lit billiards room, a beautiful metal bar, large windows, and an outdoor porch are just a few of the physical characteristics of Almond that make this neighborhood bistro so inviting and alluring. Almond serves brunch, lunch and dinner, seven days a week, to a continuous crowd bursting with lively conversation – the window seats and wood-planked front porch are the restaurant’s most coveted spots. And yet, despite its constant scene, Almond manages to feel simple, unpretentious, and just plain fun. Housemade brioche French toast, pastrami and eggs, and six varieties on croques gratin, a salmon nicoise sandwich, chilled pea and mint soup, roast chicken with crushed potatoes, day boat scallops with smoked duck breast and goat cheese ravioli – these are some of the upgraded, French-influenced classic dishes that make up Almond’s enticing daily menu. The massive, gleaming bar is a great place to have a drink or a meal, and it showcases especially well the restaurant’s raw bar and fresh seafood platters.
