The Lyceum has a long history in Manhattan, having begun on Fourth Avenue between 23rd and 24th Streets. In 1903, however, it opened in its present location and has maintained its original Beaux Arts style with stone columns and marble staircases. Owned by the Shubert Organization since the 1950s, the theater has staged many well-known plays and hosted numerous topnotch actors including Fanny Brice and Humphrey Bogart. In 1974, it was the first theater to be declared a New York landmark.
