Irish Arts Center
M-F 10am-6pm
Located in a three story tenement for many years, the Irish Arts Center managed to gain a strong reputation in the world of dance, art, theater, film, music and “cross cultural conversation.” Come 2016, their present space will connect with a new state of the art facility on Eleventh Avenue. It is then that the Center will be able to invite larger audiences and more talent to perform.
While chatting with Dan, one of the enthusiastic staff members, he told me about the highly successful residency of Camille O’Sullivan, who had just finished a run of nine sold out shows. He excitedly reported that they were filled to capacity in their 150-seat theater every night. Dan told me that Camille is known as the “Queen of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival,” and they were thrilled to be at the forefront of introducing this incredibly talented woman to New York.
During the Eleventh Avenue building construction, the Irish Arts Center is joining forces with multiple theaters in the city to bring audiences strong, meaningful Irish productions in larger and better equipped settings.
