We had no idea just how fabulous Fabulous Fanny’s antique and vintage eyewear was until we met the owner and he told us that his store carries eyeglasses dating back to the 1700’s – one of the frames having been made by the first gentleman to ever manufacture sunglasses in America.

A popular place with celebs, Selima Salaun has been able to "combine her professional expertise as an optician and optometrist with modern, innovative design to create a uniquely glamorous retail niche. " The store is filled with both classic and stylish eyeglass frames. In addition, the boutique carries vintage clothing and fashion accessories primarily from Hermes and Chanel. Maxim Eyes is friendly and inviting simply from the sidewalk. Big wooden block letters spelling out “Maxim Eyes” lay in several beds of faux grass, surrounded by birdcages with fake birds wearing glasses and mannequin heads sporting the funkiest of frames. The sunny, playful disposition of the window display lured me into the small store that houses hundreds of frames. Inside, the people working there were as warm and welcoming as their storefront.

Anthony Aider has been fitting people with trendy eyewear since 1989. We stopped in the store to take a look at their selection of glasses and were impressed by the beautiful array that they carry. More importantly, however, is that they have a lovely group of people working here -- friendly, helpful and dedicated to dressing your eyes in the perfect pair of specs.
