As soon as I walked into this small animal hospital, a nurse greeted me with a smile and a big bowl of candy. She explained that the tight-knit staff works not only to provide the best possible care for sick and injured pets, but also to make them feel comfortable and welcome. At larger clinics, she told me, animals often see a different veterinarian each time they visit, but at Cooper Square, pets get to build a long-lasting relationship with just one doctor. Though I did not get a chance to meet the rest of the veterinary team before I left - they were busy with their patients - I was happy to meet Lola, the hospital’s adorable bulldog mascot.
