The Iroquois New York
In case there are not enough midtown boutique hotels to choose from, particularly on 44th, here is another in a beautifully restored building that housed residents beginning in the early 1900s. It was an “apartment hotel” offering renters some of the special amenities that a hotel might. Its history is full of drama and celebrities like James Dean, who resided at the Iroquois for a few years. Today, the apartments have been divided and the building has undergone a tremendous renovation, while allowing some of the old world charm to remain. Located off the lobby are the adjoining French restaurant, Triomphe, with its tantalizing menu, and Lantern’s Keep, an enticing bar.
