When I first walked into Odd Eye NYC, the store’s sleek and modern design captivated me. The wooden paneling, white walls, and polished tables contributed to the the wonderful aesthetic. “Odd Eye has a lot of character,” one of the owners, Taylor Fimbrez, announced as we began our conversation. “There used to be a psychic here, so this place has history.” Taylor opened Odd Eye in 2016. Before then, he was selling items out of his apartment across the street. When the space became available, he and his partner, Aaron Casey, seized the opportunity to open a store. They completely renovated it, knocking down walls to accommodate the vintage furniture and knick knacks that they had accumulated over the years. The two continue to search the northeast looking for interesting pieces to add to their fascinating collection of goods. Taylor and Aaron change the window decorations often, giving their shop a transient vibe, and, of course, attracting passersby.
